Susanne Foucher is a wine of harmony — a composed red blend that brings together the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, the generosity of Merlot, and the aromatic lift of Cabernet Franc. It represents the family story not as a single voice, but as a gathering of elements: strength, softness, perfume, patience, and memory.
This is La Luandière’s most complete red expression. Built for ageing, it is shaped by careful blending and patient maturation, allowing each cultivar to contribute without dominating. Cabernet Sauvignon gives backbone and longevity, Merlot brings roundness and depth, and Cabernet Franc lends freshness, fragrance, and grace.
Tasting Note
Deep crimson with a dark ruby core. The nose reveals cassis, black plum, red cherry, cedar, tobacco leaf, pencil shavings, and subtle dried herbs. The palate is layered and composed, with dark fruit, polished tannins, and a long, savoury finish. There is both power and restraint here — a wine that will soften, deepen, and become more complex with time in the bottle.
Susanne Foucher is built through selection and patience. Each component is vinified to express its own character before blending, allowing structure, fruit, and aromatic detail to come together naturally. French oak maturation frames the wine, while extended bottle ageing allows the blend to settle into balance before release.
This wine carries the spirit of inheritance: different elements held together by time, care, and intention. It is made not only to be enjoyed, but to be kept — to mark dinners, seasons, anniversaries, and family gatherings. With age, its youthful fruit will give way to cedar, spice, earth, and quiet elegance.

Wines are made not only for the moment of drinking, but for patience, memory, and time.
At La Luandière, the wines are made with an old-world understanding of time. They are not rushed into early charm or shaped for immediate applause. Each wine is allowed to carry the rhythm of the farm: the warmth of Paarl, the cooling breath from the Klein Drakenstein Mountains, the quiet strength of the soils, and the patience of traditional cellar work.
Our winemaking philosophy is one of minimal intervention, careful extraction, and long maturation. Fermentation is handled gently, with respect for the fruit and the natural structure of each cultivar. The wines are matured in French oak for approximately twelve months, then given further time in bottle before release. This extended ageing allows the wines to settle, integrate, and reveal themselves slowly.
These are wines made to age — not simply to survive time, but to become more complete through it. With patience, the fruit softens, the tannins become finer, the oak folds into the wine, and the deeper notes of earth, spice, dried herbs, tobacco, honey, beeswax, and mineral texture begin to emerge.
Susanne Souchay brings together the farm’s Bordeaux varieties into a wine of harmony, structure, and inheritance. Cabernet Sauvignon contributes backbone, depth, and dark fruit; Merlot brings softness, roundness, and generosity; Cabernet Franc adds perfume, freshness, and fine aromatic detail.
The components are shaped by Paarl’s warm days, the cooling influence of the Klein Drakenstein Mountains, and the farm’s structured sandy clay loam soils. This combination gives the blend its richness, but also its balance. It is generous without being excessive, firm without being severe.
The nose opens with cassis, black cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco, graphite, and dried herbs. As the wine breathes, deeper notes emerge: dark chocolate, cigar box, warm spice, bay leaf, violets, and earthy mineral tones. The palate is layered and composed, with ripe dark fruit, polished tannins, and a long, elegant finish.
Susanne Foucher is made with ageing at its centre. A Bordeaux-style blend needs time for its parts to become whole. The Cabernet Sauvignon must soften, the Merlot must fold into the structure, and the Cabernet Franc must lift the wine with perfume and freshness. French oak maturation gives support and quiet spice, but bottle ageing is where the blend truly begins to harmonise.
In youth, Susanne Foucher shows dark fruit, structure, and promise. With age, it will develop more complex notes of tobacco, leather, dried plum, cedar, earth, spice, graphite, and cigar box. The tannins will become more velvety, the fruit more savoury, and the wine more complete.
This is a wine made for the table, for conversation, for family gatherings, and for future occasions. It carries the warmth of Paarl, the discipline of traditional winemaking, and the patience of a family story still unfolding.
